I need some advice regarding my TFN form and name details. My new employer asked me to complete the TFN form, and for context, let’s say my full name is "Fen Yan James BROWN" (this is just an example). In this example, my first given names are "Fen Yan James," and my last name is "BROWN." However, in their system, only "James" has been recorded as my first given name, and "BROWN" as my last name.
The TFN number itself is correct, but the same name detail has also been applied to my super account (which is their nominated fund). Their system only allows employees to update their name details after their official start date. I’ve tried reaching out to the employer, but it seems their team is currently on leave.
Since "James" is legally part of the first name in this example, would it be okay to wait until after my start date to fix this? Or is this an urgent issue that needs immediate attention?
