Worried you’re missing part of your refund? Remember, the low and middle income tax offset isn’t a refund on its own – it’s used to offset (or reduce) the amount of tax you pay. The offset amount you may be entitled to is automatically applied and could range between $255-$1080, depending on things like your taxable income and how much tax you’ve paid.

Hi,

I have a client that is a Sole trader who has Uber income and also other contracted income that they invoice out.

They have to declare a BAS for uber gst but does this also include their other income as it is well under the normal $75000 threshold.

Are they allowed to charge GST on their other income? (non uber related income)

TIA

Hi @NTDBKeeping

Thank you for your question.

If your client is required by law to register for GST because their business income partly comes from ride sharing, then all their business income is required to be reported on their BAS

If the sole trader ABN has a GST registration, then they are allowed to charge and claim GST for all their business activities.

Hope this helps.
