Hi All,

Expatriates who own the Family Home are now subjected to CGT when they sell after 30/6/20 while still overseas as they are non residents for tax purposes.

There is a rush for expatriates to sell in an unfavourable market.

With the prevailing Pandemic will the Federal Goverment extend the expiry date as the Real Estate market is in lockdown.

Thanks

Hi @taxcommunity,

We understand that the current COVID-19 outbreak is creating a lot of difficulties for those trying to comply with this measure.

We have raised this issue with Treasury to consider in light of similar responses we’ve received.

It is now a policy matter for Government.
