Hi,

My client runs an AirBnB business that started in early 2020. Her business was heavily affected by Covid-19 and was hoping to get some Government support. She meets all the eligibility criteria for the Cash Boost for Employers, except for the ABN requirement.

Due to an oversight, there was no ABN applied at the time she set up the business, therefore she did not have an ABN held as at 12/3/2020. She later applies for an ABN with effective date in early February.

Is there any way that she can still receive the Cash Boost for Employers support?

Thanks.

Hi @Ada_L,

Thanks for reaching out to ATO Community.

There is information in the eligibility companion guide for cash flow boost relating to having an ABN on the 12 March 2020 (or a later time allowed by the Commissioner of Taxation). It mentions how PS LA 2020/1 provides guidance on the very limited circumstances that we will exercise the discretion to give additional time to hold an ABN. There is further information in the guide about how to contact us if you believe the circumstances in PS LA 2020/1 apply to your client's business.

You can find further information regarding special eligibility rules and eligibility or ineligibility on our website.

All the best and I hope this helps.
