Hi ATO community!

Question on eligibility. If a company takes on an employee this month (April 2020) are they still eligible for the initial and additional Cash Flow Boost ? This article https://www.taxtalks.com.au/cash-flow-boost/ see heading "4 – Payment" indicates the answer is yes (assuming all other eligibility requirements are met) however I am chasing a second opinion.

The ATO article https://www.ato.gov.au/Business/Business-activity-statements-(BAS)/In-detail/Boosting-cash-flow-for-... under key dates does not make it clear.

It would be helpful to know for budgeting purposes going forward if the company will receive the below?

June BAS: Initial cashflow boost + first payment of additional cashflow boost

Sept BAS: second payment of additional cashflow boost

Hi @jcr

Thanks for reaching out to us.

As long as the business meets the eligibility requirements as outlined on our website, it will be eligible for the cash flow boosts for the employee that started in April as long as a payment that was subject to withholding was made to them.

As you will see on our website, it doesn't matter when the employee started working for the business to get the cash flow boosts. In saying that, we do suggest that you check out the information about schemes just in case that is relevant to your scenario.

For more information about the delivery of the cash flow boosts, have a look at our website.

Good luck with it all.

Thanks, ChrisR

Thankyou for reaching out and clarifying the ATO position on this question. Very helpful hopefully to other business owners trying to budget during the pandemic.
