Hi I'm a causual employee and have been with the same company for 2.5 years. Last year I was unavaiable as a result of medical issues for approximately 3 months. I would consider myself a long term employee and during this time I had conversations with my manager about returning to work and being transferred to another department (which I then was).
My employeer has said that I am not eligible because of the time I had to have off. This doesn't seem right to me, what's the definition of a regular and systematic worker? I had been given expectations that I would be returning to work after this period and I had worked there for over 12 months already.
