Enrolling as a sole trader

I understood that it would be possible to enrol for JobKeeper on 20th April which I did via MyGov/ATO link. However, there was no option for sole traders. I enrolled as a business because I do have an ABN but now have discovered that the ATO have since supplied a different form for sole traders. I can't get rid of the original enrolment which was done in error and therefore can't apply for JobKeeper as a sole trader.

What can I do to start from scratch again?

This is not my fault, the ATO told us on the updates to wait for 20th April and as there was only 1 form I assumed that sole traders had to use it.

Hi @PianoCatherine,

Thanks for getting in touch, and thanks for your patience as we adapt our services through the current climate. There is a similar question over at this thread:

https://community.ato.gov.au/t5/COVID-19-response/JobKeeper-enrolment-error-need-to-resubmit-with-co...

We are still looking into how people can amend their forms, and will post any updates there as we get more information. In the meantime it looks like many have had luck calling through to the contact centre and having it fixed up over the phone.

The contact details for that are here:

https://www.ato.gov.au/about-ato/contact-us/phone-us/

Hopefully this helps!

Josh

Thanks Josh.

I managed to get through to a very helpful lady at ATO who manually entered ‘0’ on my application. But I’m still unclear as to whether that’s all I need to do ie. just enrol. Do I have to submit a form on May 4? Or does my first payment just automatically come through. If so, on what date?
Thanks again for your help

Hi @PianoCatherine

Thanks for getting back to us and for your patience.

Enrolling is step 1 of the JobKeeper application process. You still need to complete steps 2 and 3 (from 4 May) to get the payment and provide us with updates of how your business is progressing. After you have done that, you should receive your first payment in early to mid May.

You can find out more about the application process by checking out the JobKeeper guide for sole traders on our website.

Good luck with everything.

Thanks, ChrisR
