Job keeper and work cover

Hi

We had an employee on WC partial hours when the COVID and Job keeper began,  we were eligible for Job keeper from March last year. We were initally instructed all WC had to be on JK, so we paid her for the hours worked (that she was able to as per certificate) and  JK topped up to 1500 (which was at least  300 over her usual pre injury wage) as instructed. We got nothing back from WC. Then in Nov WC instructed that the hours she didnt work (due to inability) will also be given to her  in a payment from insurer they sent us.

This makes no sense.

Shouldnt it have initally been-  hours worked + incapacity WC hours (paid by insurer) + JK top up = 1500 up to Sept

We instead paid from March till Sept -  hrs worked + JK top up =1500.00

Now they are saying it should be:  hrs worked+ JK top up (as above to 1500 ) + WC hours not worked= probably in excess of 1800- well above the JK initial maximum.

 

Please advise

I completely understand the confusion. You have done the right thing, in paying your employee the full amount of Jobkeeper. We can't make any comment on how WorkCover calculate their payment amounts. We can only tell you, you have paid the correct amount.
