Hi,

One of our client, who enrolled for jobkeeper programme under one of his employer and received the jobkeeper amounts for 2 fortnights.

Then, he recognised that he is not eligible for this programme because -
1. He works under more than one employer (that is he works under 2employers but claimed Jobkeeper under only one employer).

2. He is not the Permanent resident of Australia.

Then he advised his employer and the employer stopped jobkeeper from the third fortnight for him.

Now, he wants to pay back the amounts he received to ATO before lodging his ITR, as he is not eligible for the jobkeeper.

Please advise the following -

1. as what steps he has to follow to payback the jobkeeper and when he has to pay back the same.

2. and does he need to report the amounts in ITR if pays back whatever he received?

Thank you

Regards

Rita

Hi @Rita,

Thanks for getting in touch about the issue.

The client's employer needs to contact us to make the arrangement to repay the JobKeeper payment, and once this is done the employee needs to pay that money back to the employer.

Once the issue is rectified then the employer needs to amend the client income statement to reflect the changes and they can lodge the tax return.

Hope this helps.
