Worried you’re missing part of your refund? Remember, the low and middle income tax offset isn’t a refund on its own – it’s used to offset (or reduce) the amount of tax you pay. The offset amount you may be entitled to is automatically applied and could range between $255-$1080, depending on things like your taxable income and how much tax you’ve paid.

Working from home deductions

I'm new

I worked from home once a fortnight prior to COVID19 and I am now working from home until further notice.
I am planning on using flat rate of $0.52 per hour for home office deductions. In February this year I purchased an office chair for $170.00. Can I add this to the home office deductions or is that included in the $0.52 flat rate?

Thanks

The chair would be included in th 52 cents per hour as depreciating office furniture.

If Office furniture costs exceed what you could claim by claiming 52 cents per hour then claim that instead.
