Hi, my partner was on a 457 skilled working visa sponsored by a restaurant for the last 2 years. He was granted his Australian permanent residency in May.
Because he was not a resident on 1st March he is not eligible for the Job Keeper payments.
He has been unable to find work since March and as a young family with a mortgage we are struggling.
Does anyone know there is any sort of assistance we can get?
Thank you

Hi @twilll,

Thank you for your post.

Sorry to hear your struggle, unfortunately he needs to meet the residency rule to get the JobKeeper payment.

You may able to seek some assistance from Service Australia - please contact them for help.

Also, as he is now a permanent resident, he may be eligible to apply for his super in accordance with the COVID-19 measure. For more information about COVID-19 early release of super, have a look at our website.

All the best.
