Hi,

I am currently a permanent resident in Sweden and have been for five years. I have no residence in Australia.

I provide IT consulting services to a company in Australia from Sweden.

I bill this company using an ABN.

Am I liable to pay taxes in Australia?

Thanks

Hi hemlis,

I found this on ato.gov.au:

https://www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/International-tax-for-individuals/Work-out-your-tax-residency/

If you're a foreign resident for tax purposes you must declare on your tax return any income earned in Australia, including:

  • employment income
  • rental income
  • Australian pensions and annuities
  • capital gains on Australian assets.

hope this helps
