Does the available time extension apply to self-lodgers ? We are not affected by transfer balance caos.

Hi @Hunnoms,

Welcome to our Community!

@Anonymous is correct - if an SMSF member has a pre-existing income stream, it must be reported to us on the TBAR on or before 1 July 2018. A pre-existing income stream is an income stream the member was receiving on 30 June 2017 that:

  • continued to be paid to them on or after 1 July 2017, and
  • is in retirement phase.

You can find this information on our website.

If you're referring to SMSF returns for the 2016-17 years the lodgment due date is 30 June 2018. You can find information about extended due date for 2016-17 SMSF returns here.

Thanks, JodieH.

The public extensions provided by the Commissioner of Tax applies to everyone in the Industry unless otherwise stated and it does not make any difference if the trustee of the fund lodges the TBAR or they are done via a third party.
