Worried you’re missing part of your refund? Remember, the low and middle income tax offset isn’t a refund on its own – it’s used to offset (or reduce) the amount of tax you pay. The offset amount you may be entitled to is automatically applied and could range between $255-$1080, depending on things like your taxable income and how much tax you’ve paid.

I received a cheque for my DASP a few years ago but was unable to pay this in to my UK account.  I tried many ways to resolve but eventually it fell into the 'too hard basket' and now noone will accept the ! I want to know if:

1) The money remains with the ATO indefinitely

2) If I can reqest this to be transferred to my Australian account or request a reissue of the cheque

Hi @Icedgem24,

Sounds like the cheque is stale and  you would need to request for it to be deposited into a bank account.

Thanks
