Hi, I am just wondering if my son is able to claim his laptop on his tax?

He works part time and also goes to tafe. He purchased the laptop for his tafe work, can he claim this?

This may fall under the category of deductions for self education expenses if your sons  study is work-related or if he receives a taxable bonded scholarship.   https://www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/Income-and-deductions/Deductions-you-can-claim/Self-education-exp...

If the cost of the computer is not work-related or he does not receive a taxable bonded scholarship then the expense is not an allowable deduction as it is not incurred in gaining or producing assessable income and is private or domestic in nature.
