ATO QC 49409 Future-year lodgments states "The current-year form may be used to lodge a future year return. The tax return form in SBR-enabled software has an option to indicate the lodgment is for a future year."

We have contacted our SBR provider who advised that there is no indicator for future year, but the current year form can be used just by changing the period dates to reflect a future period.

Does anyone know if the ATO will accept the lodgement this way?

That is the suggested method.

Use 2018 tax return and chage date to 2019.
