I have a letter from Centrelink online saying I have tax sitting there to be collected but how

Do you have a myGov account?

 

If so log in and see what information it provides.

 

The ATO generally will refund any tax it owes to your nominated bank account once you have lodged a tax return.

If you haven't nominated a bank account then it used to send out cheques, not sure now.

 

Also, if you have lodged a tax return incorrectly and the ATO has done an ATO generated amendment there may be an additional refund.

 

Contact the ATO and enquire, make sure that you have identification.
