Hi,

My son has a MyGov account and a TFN and is trying to link to ATO but hasn't kept the original paperwork that advised him of his TFN so is not being given a linking code. He is unemployed so hasn't lodged a tax return yet. He has called on a few different occasions to try and explain his predicament but each time gets told he doesn't have enough information the verify his identity. Is there some way we can get his PRN sent to him or is there some other solution that you can suggest?

Thanks Tricia

Hi @Tricia,

Welcome to our Community!

When you contact the ATO we need to be certain we are talking to the right person, so you must be able to prove your identity. If your son is not able to provide enough identity information for us to access his account and obtain a linking code, he may need to lodge a TFN enquiry form. Once the application has been processed we'll send him a TFN notification letter, alternatively if he has a bank account and has provided his TFN to the bank, they may be able to provide it to him.

Thanks.
