Hi,

We are using MYOB AccountRight Premier 19.  We submit annual payment summaries (EMPDUPE notepad file) generated by MYOB via Auskey portal.

The Single Touch Payroll report seems to be a weekly version of the annual payment summary report, can you please advise if this is the case?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Joanne

Hi Joanne,

Thanks for your patience whilst we received specialist information regarding your query.

Each time you pay your employees, you will report the tax and super information to us from your Single Touch Payroll (STP)-enabled payroll solution. The information you send us will include your employees' salaries and wages, allowances, deductions (for example, workplace giving) and other payments, pay as you go (PAYG) withholding and superannuation information.

STP is a reporting change for employers and whilst you will report most of the information that was previously captured on the payment summary annual report, there are also a number of differences between the two reporting methods.

You will not need to provide payment summaries to your employees for the payments you report through STP. To be exempt from giving payment summaries, you will need to make a finalisation declaration.

If you have more questions or would like to discuss STP further, you can phone us on 13 28 61 between 8am - 6pm, Monday to Friday to speak with an operator.

Thanks, JodieH.

Hi JodieH,

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate your time.

Is the Single Touch Payroll report similar to a payroll advice, which includes the current payment, YTD totals and superannuation?

Can you please advise what format the required report needs to be generated? Possible options are:

Tab-Delimited Text / Comma separated text / simple text

We would like to utilise our existing MYOB software if possible, without having the added expense and disruption of upgrading to the newest version of MYOB.

Thanks again for your assistance,

Joanne

Hi @Joanne1

Thanks for the follow up!

The Single Touch Payroll (STP) report will be used to align reporting obligations with payroll processes. Information that will be reported include; salary and wages, allowance, deductions and other payments, PAYG withholding and superannuation. You can find a list of mandatory payments on our website

By reporting this information through STP throughout the year you won't need to provide the corresponding payment summaries to employees or a PAYG withholding payment summary annual report to the ATO if you complete a finalisation declaration.

If you have 19 or more employees as at 1 April, you may need to upgrade your software to meet STP reporting requirements, as STP reports can only be generated through STP enabled software and previous versions can't be lodged in the correct format. You can refer to the Australian Business Software Industry Association (ABSIA) product catalogue for details of STP-enabled products and third-party solution providers.

Thanks, JodieH.

I am in the same situation as Joanne1.  I am using MYOB Accountright Plus V19.  I can not afford the extra costs to upgrade so is there another way we can submit this information like using the Portal? Thank you.

I would strongly suggest talking to MYOB.  They are seeking to provide a strategy for clients such as yourself.

The Government will not be providing a lodgement portal at this time.

You could look at www.govreports.com.au who provide a form filling type STP lodgement facility which is the best one we are aware of at this time.

The Institutue of Certified Bookkeepers www.icb.org.au has been involved in the ATO consultations and continues to advise bookkeepers and business on implementing STP

Thank you for your reply.

I contacted MYOB yesterday and they said I have to join up with a subscription which will cost $100.00/month and will be going up on 1 April 2019.  This is actually ridiculous. Great for large corporations, but crushing for small business.

Thank you for your suggestions.  I will look into it.

Kind regards
