I am receiving a contributions tax refund on one of my superannuation fund (very small balance). Zero contributions but deductions for Life, TPD and Income Protection.

Please can you explain contributions tax on superannuation. Pleasant surprise to receive a refund but not sure how this is determined.

Thank you for all your help.

Hi

Super contributions are generally taxed at the concessional rate of 15%, unless they are non-contributions (after-tax contributions), in which case they are not taxed when they enter your super fund since income tax has already been paid on them.
