I made a payment to ATO with the wrong reference number on behalf of my client.
What is the best way to correct this?

The best way to fix this is to phone us to discuss with an operator and request a payment transfer. You can phone our payment hotline on 1800-815-886 between 8am - 6pm, Monday to Friday.
You can request a payment transfer via the Tax agent or Business portal, however this has a 14 day service standard.
