Hi, could you please help me with below two questions regarding the Date of Death tax return (Final tax return)?
Q1, Which address (Street / Postal) do we need to put on tax return, whether is it execuor address or deceased person address details?
Q2. If deceased perosn is NOT exempt for Medicare levy,
Under M1 - V (Full 2% levey expmption days ) do we need to leave it blank or do we need to calculate number of days he didn't live for that financial year (ex: if date of death is 31/05/2019, can we put remaining 30 days under full 2% levey exmption)
Thanks a lot...
Hi @KaZ,
1. The form requires the address of the individual whom the return belongs to (in your case it is the deceased person).
2. Please see medicare information found on ATO.gov below.
Hope that helps,
HaydB

Hi @HaydB,
Thanks for your repply,
In Q2, sorry, couldn't find answer from that link. That link for fully exempt or half exempt. I just want to know, if deseased persona who is NOT EXEMPT live only couple of months, can't we put that remaining days as fully 2% exempt. Because he didn't live those days (as per my example 30 days)?
Hi @KaZ
Thanks for your post.
Based on what you have said you are correct, Medicare levy and the Medicare levy surcharge would only apply from previous 1 July to the date of death, the remaining number of days would be exempt.
Here is some information on Doing a date of death tax return, you may also find helpful.
Thanks JoA
