I'm currently working as a User Experience Designer and completed a User Experience Immersive course at General Assembly Melbourne last year.

Would the tuition fees associated with this course be tax-deductible?

Hi @PuxelFairy,

Welcome to our Community!

We can provide general information here on our Community, however we'd need to know more information about your situation to determine if you can claim the expense as a self-education deduction. For a more tailored response you can contact our early engagement team by submitting a request form or requesting a call back and someone will contact you to discuss further.

Generally, to be eligible to claim self-education expenses, the course you're doing must have a direct connection to your work as an employee and that you’ll receive a formal qualification from a school, college, university or other place of education as a result of the course you are doing.

You can find more information about deductions you can claim and deduction for specific industries and occupations on our website, or use our Self-education expense calculator to check your eligibility.

Thanks, JodieH.
