I drive for Uber part-time and earn about $300 a week. How much GST should I pay? I read a few guides and they make me more confused.
Here is an overview of my last weeks earnings (as received from Uber):
Trip Earnings: $314.45
Total Payout: $314.45
I received $314.45 on my bank. Should I pay GST on this amount?
My understanding is:
Please help.

Hi @Farhan,
Thanks for posting! The link @onestoptax sent you is great - it will direct you to our guide for ride-sourcing drivers and explain how tax and super will apply to you.
If you have more general questions about GST, we also have guide that explains how to collect, report and pay GST on your sales. ASIC has a great calculator on their website to help work out how much GST is due and payable - just enter in the dollar value of your sales, and the calculator will tell you how much GST needs to be collected and forwarded.
Hope that helps!
Hi @Farhan
The GST you pay to ATO (less any GST on your inputs such as fuel) is one-eleventh of the total amount charged to and paid by your passengers.

Hi Farhan,
Gst is charged on Gross Fare that is inclusive of UBER Fee. The good news is that you from December 2017 onwards you can claim gst on UBER free as they are now registered from gst as at 01/12/2017. Prior to that you couldn't claim gst on UBER commission.
The easiest way to calculate GST is to go to your UBER account and select monthly tax summary. Download monthly summary and it will have a breakdown of your gross income then you can minus all expense that is related to your uber driving and pay get on the net income (after all the expense). Please note: prior to December 2017 you cannot claim gst on uber commission
I hope this helps.
We have made this calculation super easy you can go to our website www.alitax.com.au and connect your uber account and it will automatically calculate the income you have to pay gst on. You will also find lots of useful information that are specifically designed for uber drivers.
