Worried you’re missing part of your refund? Remember, the low and middle income tax offset isn’t a refund on its own – it’s used to offset (or reduce) the amount of tax you pay. The offset amount you may be entitled to is automatically applied and could range between $255-$1080, depending on things like your taxable income and how much tax you’ve paid.

Hi,

I am not registered for GST because my earnings are less than $75000 freelancing (seperate from my annual wage). I did not register for an ABN becasue I completed some one-off freelance work.

I am not sure,

- Should my invoice should include GST to the client if I am unregistered?

- Do i need to pay tax on the amount if I can't charge for tax?

Hi KP,

You need to get an ABN number even if it is a one-off freelance job. Check this link from the ATO community to answer your question about ABN https://community.ato.gov.au/t5/Sole-traders/Do-I-need-ABN-number-for-a-part-time-job/td-p/8885

Providing freelance service comes under Personal Services Income (PSI) please read this link here https://www.business.gov.au/Finance/Taxation/Personal-services-income

No, you cannot charge your clients GST if you are not registered for GST.

Is it too late to register ad ask for tax to be charged? As I will need to pay this tax as tax time?

They have not completed payment and original quote agreed to an amount plus tax.
