Hi

For a private company, when we declared and paid the franked dividend to shareholders, do we need to inform ATO or lodge any report to ATO or ASIC?

Thanks.

First - check if the company falls within the definition of investment body - if Yes - the company is required to lodge an Annual Investment Income Report (AIIR). This is due the 31 October immediately following the finacial year end.

If it does not, then the company should submit a Dividend and Interest Schedule. This is a schedule which is attached to the income tax return so ensure the company fills this out. As this is attached to the tax return - the due date is when the return is due. Also, if no amounts were paid, then you do not need to submit this schedule.
