Please advise the steps in detail, when logging into the ATO Portal with myGovID. There is concern in our office that the personal email address used when creating the myGovID, is the same email address used when logging into the ATO Portal, and that using the personal email address in this way will create a problem for the Tax Agent.
Therefore the tax agent wants myGovID set up with the work email addresses, and NOT the personal email address (even though the "personal email address" is stated as the one to use). Thank you.
Hi @DeeDee
Thanks for posting!
Your myGovID is unique to you, so should use a personal email address (in case you change jobs and no longer have access to your work email address).
Once the principal authority links the business to their myGovID in RAM, they can authorise you to act on behalf of the business. Once they've done this, you'll receive an authorisation code. This code is sent to the email address supplied by the principal authority, so this can be different to the email address you used to create your myGovID (e.g. a work email address).
Hope this helps.
