Hi - I work as a disability care worker and visit clients in their own homes. I have clients all over Sydney, with jobs rostered all throughout the day & night, and travel using my own motorcycle. Mileage is pretty high.

Can I claim any deductions for travel, and how, lets say in following situations

- home - to the client - back home

- home - client 1 - client 2 - home

- home - client 1 - gym (my own private activity) - client 2 - home

- home - client 1 - home - client 2 - home

What method do I use (it's all about cars on ATO website - I travel on a MOTORBIKE, quite different economy). My mileage is about 40,000 km a year, being about half business and half pleasure (eg outback trips).

Thank you all.

Motorcyle riders have to keep a log book for 12 weeks showing all travel, personal and work related.

Then claim that work % for all running costs.
