How do my de facto partners centerlink benefits affect my tax return and what are the penalties for incorrectly reporting them?

You need to declare your spouse’s taxable income on your return, including any Centrelink benefits. These amounts are used to calculate certain offsets and Medicare amounts. If you aren’t in contact you need to make a reasonable estimate of their income.

Yes there are penalties for not declaring information on your tax return, how much depends on the scenario.
