MyGov incorrect visa status

I was on a WHV from Jan 18-Jan 19 and subsequently returned to Australia on a student visa from July 19-June 20. My MyGov account still states that according to their records I’m on a WHV and I seem to have been taxed at those thresholds, rather than as a student.

Do I have to/where can I change my visa status on MyGov/ATO? Or do I simply adjust my WHV income to “$0” when I complete my tax return?

Thank you in advance.

Hi @MichaelPelizza,

Thank you for your question.

You have to personalise the tax return to indicate the residency status for tax purpose and in general the salary and wages sections are prefilled for you based on the information provided by your employer.

you can choose the add/edit button to correct the details.

Please use our step by step guidance to complete the salary and wages section on myTax.

Hope this helps!
