Hi,

I'm really hoping someone can help me asap. When I was about to lodge the next payment instructions for Oct-Dec quarter, I found that the previous payment instructions were not processed (it says 'waiting for payment'). I checked our bank account and saw that we already paid the amount, although the payment was slightly different from the total in the payment instructions.

We never received a refund from the ATO. So I was wondering where that payment went.

Please advise how I can resolve this asap as I need to lodge and pay the next set of superannuation for our employees.

Thanks in advance.

Myself and a team of 5 who left a workplace have been promised that super has been paid by our old employer in December 2019. It has not hit any of our accounts, but he maintains that it has been paid and must be held up in the Super Clearing house, possibly due to the Christmas/New Year shut down period. Is this lengthy delay possible? Is there a way for us to check on the status of any pending payments that have been made to our super accounts?

All employee entitlements were processed by SBSCH to the respective super funds on 9/9/19 with the exception of mine. My contribution has not been forwarded to my super fund nor has it been returned to my employer. How do I get this problem resolved. Incidentally a subsequent remittance has been correctly distributed to my account.

Hey Everyone,

I have a problem,

I got my first notification at the end of last pay period that one employees Superannuation details needed updating. I made the superannuation payment anyway for all employees, including this one.

I got an email letting me know, again to update the details. The employee didn't get the details to me in time and the payment got returned to my bank account - not a problem.

When the employee did give me his updated details though, I logged in to update them and found out that the last 10 pay periods or so - his payment has not been processed! I have had no notifications of this, until now. I have also NEVER seen these partial payments returned to our bank account and am at a loss as to what I should do - because I assume I'm going to have to resubmit through ATO and pay interest on these amounts, even though it appears to not be my fault.

What are your thoughts as to what I should do? and how do I go about finding where this money has gone to!? The employee has confirmed with his super fund and they have not recieved it.

Many thanks in advance,

Erin

I have had a payment returned from SBSCH for an employee that had changed his super fund. I did not update his new fund details within the 7 days so I have received the payment back to my bank account. I now have updated his details and I want to make the payment back - do I need to set up a new payment instruction or do I just repay the amount straight back via Bpay and it will allocate to the partial successful payment?

Yet when I tried over and over again to lodge a payment instruction, the same “cannot verify USI details” keep popping up. I noticed that comments on this ato community have mentioned changes to abn of both StatePlus and OnePath. Also the SBSCH website has posted old and new ABN for StatePlus, but is absolutely silent one OnePath MasterFund’s alleged new ABN. PLEASE HELP. This is really frustrating me.

I made super payments to an employee through the Small Business Super Clearinghouse on June 24th and June 27th, but they were only received by the employee's fund in July, meaning that they will not count for 2018-19 concessional contributions for the employee.

Why are contributions considered to be dated wehn the fund receives them, rather than when the employer pays them? I don't understand why small businesses are expected to memorise the minutiae of ATO regulations that I now learn cover this (see https://www.ato.gov.au/business/super-for-employers/paying-super-contributions/small-business-superannuation-clearing-house/) when trying to run a small business and clearly having the intent of making the payment before the EOFY. This seems unfair to employees and small businesses.

Payment Issues

Hi,

I've been using SBSCH for a while now and overall it's been a good experience. However today when I logged into my account to process the April to June superannuation payment, I noticed that the January - March one was still "Waiting for payment". I double checked that the payment was made correctly on the 24th of April and called the SBSCH phone support for help.

There I was told that the payment had been received by the clearing house but not processed due to one the of the employee's superannuation accounts changing their ABN details. I received no emails about this issue and there are no obvious warning signs on the SBSCH website indicating that there is an issue with an employee’s detail. The only way to find the problem is to comb through each employee’s details manually > pressing the "Update" button > scrolling down to the bottom and expanding the super account details to see if there is a warning text. This is bit of a joke. Are we expected to do this every time we process a super payment?

Furthermore, after the SBSCH support person guided me to fix the problem ABN, I was told to delete the original January – March payment instructions and create a new one for January – June (2 quarters) and to only pay the amount for the “April – June” as the January - March payment has already been received. So I did exactly as I was told. This happened in the morning and I just received an email saying that the payment has been returned because "the amount does not match your payment instructions". This is extremely frustrating and I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do now because the phone support is not available and the super payment is due on Monday.

As an employer I paid our companys superannuation for June on the 21st June 2019 via Bpay to ensure it reached the super funds by the EOFY. It still has not (one fund definitely). ATO is too hard to contact. Super fund never replies. What can I do as deliberately paid early so that it reached the super funds before the EOFY 2018/2019.

When is an SGC payment deemed as paid when using Super Clearing House

We use MYOB Super Clearing to process Quarterly SGC payments. In the 2016/17 FY we processed a payment on 26.06.17 in MYOB and the amount was direct debited from our Business account on 27.06.17.

We have 2 employees, who when completing their 2017/18 tax returns have been advised the they have incurred an Excess Concessional Contributions Tax (because of this payment).

I have contacted the Superannuaction Company in Question (used by both employees) - who advise that the payment was not processed by them until 04.07.17 therefore reportable in 2017/18 and NOT 2016/17. I would have thought that 3 clear Business Days (from date debited to our account) would be enough time for funds to be deposited to the relevant Super Fund?

I contacted the ATO and spoke to someone who advised that SGC Payments (when paid via Super Clearing) are deemed to be on the date amount is debited to the account ... but that they cannot do anything - I have to get the Super Company to update and then resend information to the ATO.

So who is correct? Should the payment be allocated to 2016/17 FY as it was deducted from our Business account on 27.06.17 ... or is it allocated to 2017/18 FY as the Super Fund has not processed it until 04.07.17?

Just need to know in case the Super Company won't assist in the matter.

I am the trustee of a SMSF, my super entitlements are sent to the SBSCH this is where they seem to stop, this hasn't always been the case, as of march 2018 the transactions stopped showing up on my SMSF dataflow account, at the same time i changed banking details (prior to this No problems, i have had correspondance with SMSF dataflow and they can not provide me with an answer.

thier suggestion is that the ATO SBSCH has not lodged the correct information int thier system, and the moneys are in a holding account.

i have contacted the SBSCH and retrieved reference numbers that mean nothing to the financial company that controls where the payments are allocated, i have given my employer the banking details, the fund is registered with SMSF data flow.

to me the procces should be super payments to the ATO possibly it goes to Super Gaurantee first, then the to the SBSCH then to my alocated account, electronically controlled by the SMSF dataflow company.

SMSF data flow fit somewhere in the first transactions, it seems very convelouted as they actually get very little information themselves.

can someone help as all i want is my super to go where its suposed to go.

cheers

Hi,

We have made a contribution to our superannuation accounts through the ATO clearinghouse. We made the contribution into the clearinghouse on the 27/06/2018. But it didn't make the superannuation accounts until July. Meaning the superannuation fund has considered it to be an FY19 contribution and not an FY18.

I was told there was an exception for contributions through the ATO clearinghouse, that allows for the contribution to be considered when it enters the clearinghouse and not the superannuation account.

Is this true? And if so, can I have the reference, please?

On 18/12/18 my employer remitted a super payment for me via SBSCH, as she has done many times before.

This has STILL NOT reached my Super fund as at 3/2/19.

To date I have:

-Contacted my fund numerous times & they have requested provision of a PRN (payment reference number), as they have no record of receiving the funds even after searching on the payment amount.

-My employer contacted the SBSCH on 25/1/19 & they advised the funds left the SBSCH on 2/1/19 & have not been returned but could not/would not provide a PRN. They said my fund had to contact them via a "special email" (again, would not disclose this email address) to address the issue. My fund wants a PRN to be able to search for the missing money... catch 22.

-I have emailled the ATO SBSCH on 16/1/19 & have NOT received a reply apart from an automated response to say I would be contacted, at the latest in 10 days...still waiting...

As it is now February 2019, this is totally unacceptable & extremely frustrating, not to mention worrying that MY money is missing & not earning anything for nearly 2 months!

I see on some of the posts that others had issues with missing funds over the Dec/Jan period... has your money turned up?

Hi,

My employer uses the ATO clearing house to pay our super. When I reviewed the last financial years super statement I found the March 2018 super missing. When I checked with HR, they provided me a report with the transaction listed. I rang ATO and was told that there are no missing transaction or monies in super.

When I called my super fund they mentioned a problem with clearing house (ATO clearing house issue) and that they had to send monies back to ATO clearing house.

Then when I looked at the transaction from this financial year I can see one extra entry on 6th of July which I suspect is the one that should have been made in March.

Unfortunately neither ATO nor my super fund is providing any further clarification as to where my super amount was for 4 months! This is quite alarming especially if it had gone completely missing and ATO & super fund is not able to track it.

Regards,

Nav

I keep receiving emails from the clearing house saying the below:

Your Default Fund has notified us that your employee's member registration was unsuccessful because information was missing or inaccurate.

Please log into your Small Business Superannuation Clearing House account and check and update your employee's details.

When I log in to the clearing house there are employees with "update required" next to their name. The employees are former employees for whom I haven't made a payment in over a year, and in one case, they have passed away. I have entered a termination date and made them inactive but it keeps telling me to update them. I have tried calling the number in the email but I get "experiencing peak calls and can't take your call now"

Quite frustrating and I was hoping someone knew what this error was and how to fix.

Thanks

Alison

I have been using the Clearing House since inception in all its forms. In the past once a payment was received and matched I could enter another payment. Found today after taking two days via BPAY for a payment to become "received" status and hence matched I cannot process another payment until the status says "sent". This is not what happened before - after calling I was told by a rather off hand ATO employee that is how it works now. Is this since the April problem so they dont get a backlog.

I was told it takes 2-3 business days to be sent on and with two days for a BPay to show into the SBSCH account. Really? So now how am I supposed to get another payment through before 30 Jun? Send to individual acccounts all of which have their own deadlines and I need to get the bank account details for. Really?

I have read the guidelines that you get referred to and cannot find any mention of this

I personally have a superannuation account with Colonial FirstChoice Wholesale. Neither I, nor any of my other workmates who have these same accounts have received our March payment into our superannuation accounts. Both I and our administration manager have contacted ATO and Colonial. Fortunately, as I work for a financial adviser Colonial were willing to let us know what had happened. Colonial have provided advice that the first batch payment did not arrive with a batch payee list and (by law) they had to return the payment within 28 days. Unfortunately, the batch payee list arrived after that date. Colonial further advised that a 2nd batch payment arrived but the batch payee list did not match the total value of the batch payment, so they could not process it. They contacted the ATO and advised them of this and the ATO advised to send the batch payment back again (this was around 2 to 3 weeks ago). My administration manager contacted the ATO around 2 weeks ago, advising we have people who are looking to maximise the concessional contribution limit this financial year and we are coming close to the end of June and when will it be done. They said soon. We still have not received the payments into our accounts. Can you please advise when we can expect these to be paid into our superannuation accounts? Also what is the process for seeking compensatiion for the delay in payment? Also, if you are not able to answer my questions, is the Financial Ombudsman the appropriate place to lodge a complain?

Hello, the old clearinghouse used to send out an email whenever it matched the payment instruction with the actual payment.

I really liked this feature. Are you planning to introduce this ?

I could be wrong, but it also seems to take a lot longer to clear and pay my employees super funds. I'm not one of those businesses that were affected, but it seems to take a couple of days longer.

With DHS, it was usually 2 days, sometimes even 1 day, but with ATO seems to be 4 days.

I have registeded my business to use the ATO Superannuation Clearing House since June 2016, whenever an employee resign work, I would update the information in my Clearing House account, i would provide the date of termination of work to the system, then the system would mark "Inactive" on the person's name, i trusted that the information would pass over automatically to AMP(my default choice of superannuation for my employee), but to my disappointment, AMP has never receive any resignation notice from ATO Clearing House, please let me know if i need to inform AMP as well as ATO each time an employee has cease employment, if this is the case, under the ATO system, this is double work for all business owners and it is very frustrating.

Hi

As a qualified bookkeeper working under a Registered BAS agent, I have recently had to complete a few SGCS for late super on behalf of company's that we work for. The SGCS form that is generated, is not generated with a PRN or EFT payment number. This is making it difficult for our clients to make their payments. How do they make payment on the the SGCS form????

Is there a way of transferring my 100+ employees from my Sole Trader log in to the new on without having to manually input all employees again?

Thanks!

Can SBSCH be set up for a business with an overseas bank account (UK) or does this have to be an australian bank account?

If the latter is the case, how can superannuation be paid from an overseas bank account?

Thanks!

I’ve received income insurance benefits in two parts during 15/16 and 16/17, which is ongoing;

Monthly Income – This has been declared on my income tax returns, and tax has been paid up.

Monthly ‘Superannuation continuance’- Not declared on my tax return (reason unknown – I’ve discontinued using that Tax Agent!). The insurance co. has refused to tell the super co. that these payments were/are ‘concessional’ so the super fund did not deduct 15% tax. How do I make simple arrangements to;

Pay this 15/16 and 16/17 15% back tax? (I can pay immediately.)

Ensure the correct 17/18 tax is deducted by the super company?
