If someone got payable(debt) for FY 2019-20 tax return and already set up a payment plan for that debt.

In FY 2020-21 , there is a refund.

So will ATO use FY 2020-21 refund to pay off FY 2019-20 debt or will ATO collect only through already set up plan?

If ATO goes as per only set up payment plan then is there any way to request tax office to get pending FY 2019-20 debt amount out of FY 2020-21 refund ?

Thank you.

Hi @Mel143,

Thanks for posting.

Our system should go through and offset any refund amounts against the existing debt. If there's any credit leftover you should receive a refund of the remaining amount.

Hope this helps, let us know if you've got any questions.
