RST2023(I'm new)I'm new
6 June 2023

I have two matters.

I am extremely concerned that I will not be able to correctly fulfill reporting obligations to the ATO for the year ending 30 June 2023 if this is not resolved urgently, and that the STP is not set up correctly.

How can I document that I have done everything I can, and that the reasons for this are outside my control?

(1) Authorsation code for RAM

I have logged into myGovID successfully. I have followed the prompts to open RAM and am told the following: Enter the code as shown in the authorisation email you received.

I have not received any such email. What do I do? Do not tell me to call the support line. Every time I have done this in the last week, I have not been put through as the call centre is experiencing too many phone calls.

(2) Verifying identity in myGovID

On a separate matter, my identity strength in the myGovID is shown as "Basic". When I try to verify my documents to increase the identity strength, I receive a 45047 (422) error. I have already verified my identity before so this error is not surprising. However, I am told to call the support line to resolve this. Again, the support line is not answering any phone calls.

Hey @RST,

We're sorry you're having trouble. The first thing we need to get sorted is your MyGovID and your identity strength. The error 45047 (422) means that you've already verified those identity documents against another email address. If you still have access to that email address, you'll need to set it up again with that email address and verify those identity documents. You can update your email address to your preferred email address once you have access. If you don't have access to the old email address or you don't remember it, you may need to request to have cleared so you can start again.

Once you have your MyGovID set up with a 'strong' identity strength you'll then be able to link the business in RAM. The only time you'll receive an authorisation code is when someone else is authorising you access to their business. If you're the principal authority, you'll be able to link the business yourself. A principal authority is someone who is individually listed on the ABR. If you're a primary person (someone who isn't individually listed) you won't be able to link yourself. You can read more about other ways you can link your business on the RAM website.
