There doesn't appear to be an occupation category that clearly fits the job title of 'Digital Artist' for film animation - which occupation should be specified for this on a tax return?

The closest I've found in the list at https://www.ato.gov.au/forms/salary-and-wage-occupation-codes-2017/ are

- Computing professional - multimedia specialist  (Found this after posting - this might be close enough, as close as 'Animator' would be to my role anyway)

- Artist - other visual  (which doesn't sound like an office job)

- Programmer - developer  (which doesn't sound like an artist job and doesn't really apply to most of the technical artists)

- Technical director - film, television, radio or stage  (In terms of wording this could apply but I don't think it is what's meant)

- Technician - other  (no one calls us technicians, but technically it could work, that or engineer...)

My specific role is a 'Rigging Artist', which is essentually a artistically governed computer based role around the engineering of virtual assets eg. characters for animated film, TV show or game production; or put simply, someone who makes virtual puppets work for making movies.

Hi @Nathan,

Welcome to our Community!

It can sometime be tricky to find a code that matches a job description exactly. If you cannot find an appropriate specific occupation code, enter an accurate description of your occupation as you understand it and use the 'Occupation not listed' code 999000. Use this code as a last resort only.

You should make sure you only use codes from our publication on Salary and wage occupation codes 2017.

Thanks.

Thanks, yeah I did see that one after initially posting and added it in. It doesn't wholly fit as my role is only really indirectly related to multimedia, as is most of animation Pre-production, but for these purposes I guess it should be fine.
