Hello,

Just want to clarify what is the vendor's onligation in regartds to the name appears on the Foreign Resident Capital Gains Withholding Certificate?

If the first and last name matches the title is it acceptable by ATO or the whole name or initials must be on the certificate as the title?

Hi

First and last name must match for it to be acceptable.  Initial or middle name is not compulsory.

https://www.ato.gov.au/General/Capital-gains-tax/In-detail/Calculating-a-capital-gain-or-loss/Capita...

"we accept that purchasers have fulfilled their obligation if they have sighted a certificate where the First Name, Initial and Last Name or First Name and Last Name are consistent with the name on the title"

This is my personal view; I’m an ATO employee who chooses to help out here in my own time
