Worried you’re missing part of your refund? Remember, the low and middle income tax offset isn’t a refund on its own – it’s used to offset (or reduce) the amount of tax you pay. The offset amount you may be entitled to is automatically applied and could range between $255-$1080, depending on things like your taxable income and how much tax you’ve paid.

If you're an employee who works from home, you may be able to claim a deduction for expenses you incur relating to your work. Please have a read of our information on your calculation methods when determining home office expenses.

If you are running a business from your home there are deductions you can claim. You can claim expenses such as occupancy expenses and running expenses you can claim the work related amount.

You can claim a deduction of 80 cants for each hour you worked from home during the period of 1 March to 30 June 2020. For the remaining period of the 2020 Financial year you will need to use one of the other calculation methods.

Hope this helps!
