I'm aware that the ATO have issued an increased home office deduction rate for those who have had to work from home during Covid. From brief reading, it appears that an individual must have only incurred "increased expenses" in things such as electricity & other home running expenses. The home office deduction for those claiming self-education is that they must have a designated area within their home. I have yet to see anything clarifying if the new Covid rate for home office expenses is applicable to those already eligible to claim self-education expenses. Does anyone have additional insight?
