Hey i was just wondering if i am required to pay tax if im working overseas but still connected to an australian bank account , if so whats the best way to go about this.

You should look at the residency tests at  https://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/international-tax-for-individuals/work-out-your-tax-residency/

to see if you are still an Aus resident.

 

If you are, then the overseas income will be assessible here.

 

If not, then you need to notify the bank that you are a non-resident.

 

Be careful, because this is an area open to dispute  -  the result will depend on the fact in your particular case.

@Bruce4Tax has provided some great information, but I'd just like to add a little more.

 

Once you've determined your residency status, you should use our "Do I need to lodge" calculator to help you determine if you need to complete a tax return or not.

 

Whether you're required to lodge or not, you need to complete your tax return (or non lodgement advice) online via myGov.
