Hi, I would really appreciate it if someone could answer the following questions for me:

A bit of context: I am a recent graduate who just started working full-time.

Questions:

  1. I was offered a scholarship of $18,000 as a part of Industry Based Learning in my final semester. I was wondering whether this scholarship will be taxable? University said they weren't entirely sure if it would be or not.
  2. I started working a casual job for 1 month for which I paid about $800 in tax and this my FY income was not over $18,000, but my weekly earning for that month was almost $1000 per week. My question is will I be able to claim all the tax if my income for the year did not surpass $18,000.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Asif.

(2) If your total income from all sources (not just employment) was under $18,200 then you will get back any tax that you have paid.
