Recover your account using myID
To recover your account using your Strong myID:
go to the myGov sign in page
enter your username and password
select the link - I didn’t get my code, I can't access my app or I can't answer my question
select Continue with Digital ID
select myID as your identity provider
enter your myID email address – a 4-digit code will appear onscreen
log into your myID app and enter the 4-digit code
follow the prompts to sign in to myGov.
Next time you want to log in to myGov, all you have to do is select Sign in with Digital ID. It's as easy as that!
We recommend using a Standard myID to sign in to myGov when you create your new account - it’s a more secure sign in option and can simplify the linking process.
When creating your new myGov account, you can choose to use a different email address or keep using your existing one. If you want to use your existing email, you’ll need to contact the myGov helpdesk this opens in a new window for assistance.
Need to access myGov from overseas?
It's best to update your myGov sign in options before you travel. If you're already overseas, you may still be able to recover your account using myID. Our guide has everything you need to know on how to access myGov and ATO online services from overseas.
