On Monday 27 July, 2:00 pm AEST, AusAlert will send a nationwide test alert to mobile devices. This includes most phones and some smart watches and tablets.

AusAlert is a new national emergency warning system that sends important alerts during emergencies. These alerts will explain the situation and provide clear instructions on what you need to do.

What to expect

On Monday 27 July, 2:00 pm AEST, your device will:

  • vibrate

  • make a siren-like sound for about 10 seconds

  • display a test text message.

The test alert will be sent automatically – you don't need to do anything.

If the alert could make you or a family member feel unsafe, you can:

  • turn your device off, or

  • use aeroplane mode.
