Hi

If I did not recieve a travel allowance but still incurred costs for overnight accomodation, meals and incidentals can I still claim using the reasonable travel allowance expense amounts? Will the substantiation exceptions still apply?

Thanks

"Records to keep if the exception applies

If you don't receive an allowance from your employer, you need to keep receipts and a travel diary to claim a deduction. This is because the substantiation exceptions for travel expenses don't apply to you."
