Got a payise earlier this year and the last payslip before taxtime the annual salary and the YTD amount don't add up but when I went into the prefilled part of the tax return it's coming up with the new annual salary, do I use what I got paid as year to date because it's about 10k difference to new salary Thankyou
Hi @Timtam - thanks for making me hungry!!
Payslip is a good guide but don't use that figure. You should actually refer to your income statement to work out what to put for salary or wages in your return. This is what your employer reports and what we need to work it out for you, like your gross income for that financial year. This is probably the prefilled figure you mentioned.
Where you don't agree with what the employer reported on the income statement or what has prefilled, talk to your employer first as they might have a sound explanation for it.

Hi @Timtam
If you believe the pre-fill is wrong, you'll need to discuss it with your employer. They'll need to correct it before you lodge your tax return.
If not, you do have the option to edit the pre-fill. We do encourage you to check the pre-fill against your own records and correct it if you have more up-to-date information.
More information about pre-filling your online tax return can be found on our website.
