Due to COVID I have worked from home for the entire 20/21 financial year. On average I have worked 60 hours per week - my question is, using the shortcut method can i claim 60 hours per week or is it 'capped' at the standard 40 hour working week?

Hi there,

Based on the information on the Shortcut method ATO webpage, there does not seem to be a cap on how many hours you have worked.

However, 60 hours per week for the whole financial year may be flagged as a higher than expected for a shortcut method deduction claim.

Ensure you can back up for claims with supporting documentation that provides you have worked all those hours either through a timesheet, roster, or diary in the event the ATO reviews your income tax return.

Hope this helps
