Hi,

I applied for Medicare Entitlement Statement approximately three weeks ago and wonder how I can learn the status of the process.

Last year I found the detail on the ato tax return page revised after I checked a few weeks after the application, which was how I found that it was processed, and then I only needed to click on lodge. Will that happen this year too?

I am asking because this year the tax return page asks me to type in the 'Full levy exemption days' myself. Does this mean that I should type the days and click on lodge whether or not I learn the application has been processed? Or just wait until something gets revised before I lodge my tax return?

Would you please advise me what to do?

Hi @Alissa

A Medicare Entitlement Statement can take up to 6 weeks to process and it is best to obtain this before lodging your income tax return. As the ATO without evidence could amend your return to have you pay full Medicare if you dont have the statement. As for the progress of the Medicare Entitlement Statement you would need to contact Services Australia.

As the ATO without evidence could amend your return to have you pay full Medicare if you dont have the statement. As for the progress of the Medicare Entitlement Statement you would need to contact Services Australia.
