Where salary applicable to work performed over three months in the previous financial year is not received until the following FY is there any way of including it in the FY when the work was performed? ie the first year

As an individual your salary is accounted for on a cash basis. This means you'll need to include it in the financial year it was paid, regardless of when it was for. This means there isn't a way to include that income in the previous year and it will need to be included in the current financial year.
