Hi, I have made voluntary repayments on my HELP loan so balance is currently 0, however I still have STSL deductions on my payslip. I am expecting another debit on my HELP loan towards the end of March which I will voluntary repay before the end of financial year. Will I be able to claim back the STSL deductions in my tax return since I will have a HELP loan balance of 0 at end of financial year ?

Hi @Jacqueline2,

When lodging your tax return for 2021 we will balance the total amount of tax payable including any STSL, we will then deduct all amounts reported by your employer as withheld from your income in that financial year (tax and STSL) and refund any overpayment.
