Ladies and gents, I am a UK citizen back in the UK, i received a letter from the ATO stating, I am due a refund/money back.

I had a tax specialist who was helping me get this money back, but they said I need to reactivate my old TFN as its expired. Please can some one help me on how I do this?

Mike

Hi @MikeCalton,

A TFN doesn't actually expirem instead what can occur is an indicator is left on your account when you leave the country, which may be what the person you spoke to was having trouble with.

If you remember the TFN you can setup a myGov account and link it to the ATO. Once that has been set up if the money is sitting there waiting to be refunded you just need to update your bank details under your profile in the ATO section.

If you don't know your TFN, or are unable to setup myGov, you can contact us on our overseas enquiries line to have the refund processed manually.

Hope this helps, let us know if you have any further questions.
