Hi

I'm looking to work for an Australian company, being paid by them with an Australian employment contract. But I don't have an Australian citizenship or visa and would be working oversees without wanting to go to Australia to work. Is this possible? If so, would I be eligible for Australian tax payments?

many thanks!

Amy

Hello @Amy321

Yes this is possible :)

The first thing you will need to do is obtain a Tax file number (TFN), as you will need to provide this to your Australian employer to ensure you are taxed correctly.

You will most likely need to lodge an Australian tax return at the end of the financial year and declare your Australian sourced income.

For more information, I recommend having a look at the following:

    • TFN application for people living outside Australia
    • Working as an employee

    • Lodging your tax return
