Hi, I am working as subcontractor with a company that operates in 6 states/territories. When I started with them, my ABN was not registered for GST. Recently I purchased a vehicle which required me to register for GST. Now as a subcontractor am I required to put GST in my invoices to the company even if they refuse to pay me GAT?

Hi @Haidari0889

An entity you invoice cannot refuse to pay part of that invoice, especially if it is a tax.

If you are registered for GST and your services are taxable, you charge GST to your customers. As a contractor, the business that contracts you is your client.

The business must pay your invoice inclusive of GST, and then if that business is registered for GST themselves, they will claim a credit for the GST paid on your services.
